My name is Eric Husk. I was born in the Silicon Valley and graduated with a BA from there too. Thanks to my mother who was born and raised in France (actually Casablanca, Morocco - a French Territory at the time), I incurred a dual citizenship upon my birth. Moved to London for an undetermined stay in my early twenties and ended up living there and making frequent travel jumps down to "the Continent" for about a year and a half. Then a Teaching opportunity fell in my lap while I was visiting some friends near Toulouse, France, so I packed up my bags and moved on down there for the duration of a scholastic year. I would eventually return to the Bay Area in 2000 and move up to San Francisco shortly thereafter in 2001. I have played on Championship Soccer, Badminton, Rugby, teams. I should also mention the championship Astrogliders, our adult co-ed kickball team that also went all the way earlier this Spring. Professionally speaking, I’m not typically known for feathery panache, but more for my stunning clarity and results-oriented success. I can be discreet around a sensitive issue, but tough love means that sometimes you just gotta blurt something out. People often tell me I "talk straight" which means I tell it like it is. Some people feel threatened by that, and others just can't thank me enough.... Beyond that, I have two goals when starting any new position.
I love river rafting, playing outdoor sports, going on hikes, and rebooting my hard drive. If I'm not busy doing something with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone, you can usually find me in the South Bay on weekends, spending time with the family and acting silly with our dogs. I believe in setting people up for success, and I believe that if you keep your team working happily, that their success will be your reward. I believe in lifelong learning, whether it be simple funfacts to interesting stimulii towards deeper investigation. (LASER is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It was almost called a Microwave when it first came out.) I believe in innovation over habit. And although Experience is a key negotiator in our decisions, Judgment ultimately makes the call. I believe in Guides, not Rules. Voltaire said that everything is relative, and indeed context sheds light. Consider this: Some people see the world as black and white. Others understand there can be grey in between. The enlightened one sees color. But the wiser one seeks to smell.... [proverb] Click here for a list of references. |
